So, Liz Truss is under starters orders, just waiting on that running track for the funeral to take place and she can then announce a blitz (maybe that’s the wrong word) of new measures to save us all, including, eh……..wait and see. Biden has turned down an opportunity to meet with her before the funeral (probably resting up).
Went into Edinburgh this morning. Place still looks very dirty. Lots of rubbish blowing around Haymarket.
There were two young guys in the seat behind me on the train talking about the death of the Queen.
‘They planned her death so that she would die in Scotland’.
‘Yeah, I could believe that.’
‘They hoped that if it took place in Scotland it would unify the country, no one would support independence, they have had it planned for years, the whole procession down the country with the empty coffin’.
‘Yeah, you can’t trust them.’
‘It’s a conspiracy, there’s a good YouTube video about it.’
‘Send me the link.’
I’m not sure who the ‘they’ are, but if government is involved I doubt ‘they’ have the collective intelligence to plan and execute any kind of conspiracy.
There must be a football match on somewhere. Lots of Ranger supporters about, some of them drinking and shouting across the platforms. Not sure who they are shouting at, can’t see any Celtic supporters or Catholics. There were a couple of men sitting with a life size package and for one minute I thought OMG it’s the body.
It’s colder, there’s a definite nip in the air.
Turned tv news on for a few minutes. Beckham in ‘the queue’ being interviewed. He seems to have become a walking tattoo these days and is looking quite old. Maybe it’s the sun in Dubai that’s turning his skin leathery. The pack of BBC reporters are there. They must hate it. Ross Atkinson, who I usually think is very good, is amongst the party goers. Prince William even popped down to tell people they were half way there.
Apart from the newspaper headlines and the continuous tv news cycle, you would not know there was ‘something important’ happening.

I Googled ‘queen death conspiracies’. Mumsnet, of all the websites in all the world, is the one that’s indulging in this conversation. Is this what free speech has been reduced to. Post-natal depressive mothers discussing the location of the monarchs body? I read the full article, including an explanation from a Memphis funeral parlour as to why the coffin was lead lined.
