24th September (Day 19)
Will the Blackpool holiday go ahead? Scotrail announced strikes, so no chance of getting to Edinburgh by train. LNER sent an email saying there were eternal and significant engineering upgrades to the line during the period of our travel (i.e. the school holidays) and that we should pray (i.e. it’s only a railway line, don’t think of travelling on it).
Mike Lynch was on the news. Up until now I always thought that he had provided good leadership of the RMT and the strike action. Then it was reported that he had criticised Starmer at a meeting tonight and said he would not make a good prime minister. Good old Labour. Who needs the Tories when you can rip yourself apart internally. There are times I think the only effective opposition to the Tory party are other Tories.
Labour Party Conference in Liverpool this week.
The budget blues continue. ‘A budget for the rich’. ‘A gamblers budget’. And on and on it goes.
BBC Media Show discussed the coverage of the funeral. All very nice, no one really wanting to say fucking wall to wall coverage is not what I pay my licence fee for.
Royal Family has gone to ground. Official mourning. Thank God for that, could we please extend that by – like – a year.
Will Harry edit out the tasty bits in his forthcoming book as a result of the funeral? Hope not.
