Day 37

12th   October

I have just seen the tallest and shortest policemen walking together on duty with each other.

Why the surprise?

Ok, so I am officially out of touch. A Google search tells me that any height restrictions were abandoned in the 1990s (as they clearly should have been).

Should there be a height restriction for politicians. Reece Mogg was on the news this morning trying to explain government policy. I just wonder whether it takes longer for oxygen to reach his brain (than say for people who are not Tories) and that’s why a lot of his answers made no sense. I know that’s being unfair to Tories, as a lot of them clearly understand how nonsensical aspects of government policy are.

Who needs an official opposition when Truss and company are doing such a good job of trashing the Tory brand.

Angela Lansbury died.

Ongoing trial of (innocent until proven guilty) serial killer nurse. What a desperately sad, unbelievable story. How do her parents cope? They were in court.

Government will make a decision over whether we get a bank holiday to celebrate the beheading, sorry, crowning, of Mr and Mrs Windsor.

Good to see such good relations between police and noisy group of teenagers on street,  thumbs up and bumping of fists. And in fairness, they were just noisy, nothing else (teenagers that is, and not the police).

Jamie Oliver wants free school meals for all school children. Does that include the independent sector and state school parents who can easily (very easily) afford to pay? Have we become used to too many free benefits for the well off (and I’m well off, I know it, I can well afford to pay for some of the things I get for free, although if I paid I would want a far better level of service).

I need to stop buying books.

So far, on holiday I have bought Poems from the First World War (lots of poets I had not heard off); Night Sky Almanac (plan to do some star photography); History Tour of Scarborough (for obvious reasons)…….

Reece Mogg on tv news again to say that the narrative around the not-a-budget-mini -budget was a false one created by the BBC who are supposed to be impartial.

Is this tall man a democrat (not the American kind)? I think not.

He said earlier he had a mortgage. Really? On his fourth house or fifth garage?

Do I care about his personal business or financial circumstances? Not one bit. Do I care that he comes across as a total dick and as such brings parliament and politics into disrepute? Yep. Let’s frack at one of his properties.
