8th September
The death of the Queen was announced at around 6.34 pm tonight. It was obvious something was up. Total wall to wall coverage on the BBC news and other channels from about lunchtime and all day long. Members of the royal family heading for Balmoral.
And speaking of the dead, I disposed of the two acers in the back garden. They cost 70 pounds each from B&Q. Healthy as anything when bought but just did not survive in the garden.
I suppose it will now be weeks of coverage, 24 hours a day and more if that were possible, about the Queen, the monarchy, the family, what comes next. Oh joy.
The building work behind the house is moving along quickly. In between the rain the builders are having a musical time. At one point I could hear Rod Stewart and ‘We are sailing’ blasting from the radio. Rod Stewart! Really? Give us something more modern. No, hold on a minute, we now have Kate Bush and Running up that Hill.
